CS6 color management question

I want to set up an online store for t-shirts, posters, etc.  My images will be primarily photographic.  My processing software will be primarily Camera Raw and CS6. I'm trying to learn what I need to know to configure my hardware (Dell XPS 16, Wacom 21UX, Dell U2713H monitor, Canon MX850 printer/scanner) and my CS6 color settings so that what I see on my monitor and any test printing that I do on my own printer will preview as accurately as possible the images that will be printed by whatever commercial operation I work with (Company X, be it CafePress, RedBubble, etc.).

 

I've noticed in the CS6 Edit>Color Settings, that the RGB settings include printer options like "Canon MX850 PR1" and others.  Also, both RGB and CMYK allow me to load custom profiles.  So, I'm wondering if the best strategy is to request a set of printer profiles from Company X, and load those as custom RGB and CMYK profiles in the CS6 Working Spaces.  Does that make sense?

CS4 Install Error 2 (Language Pack) Resolved

I was struggling for some time to resolve this installation error (which occurred in all CS4 trial versions I attempted to install, including the CS4 Master Collection) and found posts on these forums indicating that others were having a similar issue, even after lenghty technical support calls. Having now resolved this issue I thought I'd share my resolution with you.

For reference, my setup is Windows Vista x64 with Service Pack 1 and all other updates applied.

After much trawling through the installation log file I discovered that my installation was failing because CS4 was 'unable to find the folder at token named SharedDocuments' - which I assumed meant that Windows was not directing the installer to my Shared Documents directory, into which it presumably wanted to put the language packs.

I had previously moved the Public Documents folder to a different drive (as I do with all my special user folders - it's just common sense), and found that by recreating the C:\Users\Public\Documents folder the installtion proceeded without errors. However, the installer did not actually place anything in that folder (!) and having now deleted it again my CS4 trials seem none the wiser. Adobe developers please take note: avoid hard-coding special user paths into your installers and reference the relevant Windows registry paths instead.

Thus, my recommendation for anyone else suffering from this particular installation problem is to ensure that your Public Documents folder has not been moved from %SystemDrive%\Users\Public\Documents, and if so: recreate it at the original location - at least for the duration of the installation.

Application Manager error: "The update server is not responding."

With every attempt to check for updates for Creative Suite 5, the Application Manager immediately responds with an error: "The update server is not responding. The server might be offline temporarily, or the internet or firewall setting may be incorrect. Please try again later." My last successful check for updates was on 3/27/2012.

 

I have not added any restrictions since 3/27. I do not block any outgoing communications within any of my firewalls. All other communications through all firewalls are functioning normally.

 

Is there a way to verify if the update server is really down?

 

Perhaps the server address has changed. It wouldn't be the first time a non-thinking person had this notion: "Here's what we'll do, change the update server's IP address and then roll out the new address in the next update."

CS6 Install of Magic Bullet Colorista Free

I'm considering installation of Colorista Free (C-Free) for use with CS6.

 

I've researched download and install steps, but they could be interpreted as being useless unless CS5.5 had already been installed on the target machine.

(The instructions are to dowload, install, then move items from a CS5.5 folder(s) to a CS6 folder(s).

 

My CS6 installation was done to a brand new, vendor-built computer, for which the vendor installed CS6, and the computer never had CS5.5 installed. Consequently, there are no CS5.5 folders for C-Free to be installed to, nor would there be CS5.5 folders to move from.

 

My fear is hosing my current CS6 installation, which is working very well for me.

 

Has anyone installed MB C-Free to a CS6-only installation? The correct steps to follow would be greatly appreciated.

User Name, Organization, or serial Number not valid

I have windows 8

I own 4 disc Creative Suites 2.0

 

I installed the program.

All programs open but Photoshop.

 

I get the Error: "Your Adobe Photoshop user name, organizaiton, or serial number is missing or invalid. The application cannot continue and must now exit."

 

I uninstalled it.

 

Installed the online free version.

Same error.

 

Uninstalled that, and reinstalled my version.

 

Looked for the the database file expressed in solution 4 of the following web page

Can't find the file they are talking about.

 

Need some help. Don't want to upgrade. Paid a lot of money for this version and I know it inside and out.

Just want to use it only.

Can CS 5 Creative Suite run on more than two computers?

I have CS 5 Creative Suite that I run on my desktop and laptop. I know I can uninstall from one of them and install the suite on another. Ultimately I want Photoshop CS5 to run on three computers because my daughter is old enough now to help with editing.  What are my options? Is there a license I have to buy to run the whole suite on a 3rd computer? Would it be cheaper to buy Photoshop CS5 just for her laptop?

How do I save an install file for Photoshop CS6

I need to get an install file for Photoshop CS6 (not CR) that I can use on a Windows PC that, due to security reasons, does

not have access to the internet.  In the past I have been able to save the install file for Photoshop and/or Lightroom on my internet connected PC and then move it to the the target PC on a thumb drive or CD.  But now with the CC and the new "Adobe Installer" I can't seem to see how to capture the install file. 

 

Please let me know how to do this.

Questions about Student Edition

Hi,

i'm asking cause a lot of threads i found are very old -> outdated.

1. Are there any upgrades from Student Edition to Normal Commercial Edition?

2. Can I buy later upgrades e.g. i buy now master collection cs 5.5 and get cs6 but cs7 is out, what will happen? (cause i see there are just fullversions and no upgrades)

3. On how many Computers i can install it? Or can i install it on various computers and just can use the same program on one computer? for example use photoshop with one and after effects with other one?

4. I heard that the Student Edition is EXACTLY the same like the normal. Does this mean that i can use it for commercial use? (Already read something about it and that is possible but they talked about older versions and newer and i can't understand the right answer)

5. My Father has a good Camera and often take photos. So can he use my Photoshop to edit his photos and is allowed to use these works for commercial use or just when i edit it?

6. When i finish school can i still upgrade my editions if there are any upgrades?

7. I live in Germany and saw that e.g. on Amazon.com german is not avaible at the moment just english and other european languages. Is it possible to change the language before or after installation?

Will Adobe CS3 work in Windows 10?

It works fine in Win7 but whar will happen if I update to Win10?

I have CS3 on both laptop and desktop, but my desktop doesn't work any more so I cant deaktivate CS so now I can't install it on my new desktop.

Any solutions?

Activation CS2 impossible on a new computer

My old computer just crashed!

I install CS2 on a new one with W10.

I have all the disks, a valid serial number, and the installation seems to be OK.

But when I open Photoshop, Acrobat,  (only Illustrator seems to work), I have a message saying that my serial number is invalid. It is not! It was OK on the old machine (now out of order). Maybe, I should modify my name (caps or something like this...), but how to do that?

Please help ! I have a important work to finish... and do not want to migrate (and buy) to a later version of CS. Mine is legal, and I want to use it!

J'ai l'installeur complet avec une licence valide. L'installation se déroule correctement.

Mais à l'ouverture de PS, j'ai un message:

"Votre nom d'utilisateur ou votre numéro de série sont manquants ou incorrects"

Peut-être n'ai-je pas rentré le même nom d'utilisateur (initiales, majuscules...) comment les modifier?

CS5 Design Premium Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error

Hallo,

 

I've tried to install today CS5 Design Premium. The installation was without any problems BUT I'm NOT able to open a program!!!

 

I always get the error message:

 

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesing CS5\InDesign.exe

 

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information.

 

Some Utility programs like Bridge or Device Central can be opened but no major application, like InDesign, Photoshop, etc..

 

I've called with the Adobe Technical Support but they had no knowledge of this problem and can't be of help. Although they recommended me a lot of solutions. The support was fine but no solution worked.

 

I use Windows XP SP3, 1TB hard drive, 4 GB RAM, Intel Core2 Quad processor. I use divers utility programs to have always a clear system. I had never such a problem before.

 

Can anyone give me a workable solution?

unable to reinstall my downloaded copy of Adobe 5.5 Design Premium

Hi Madison,

 

Shared skype name and phone #, nothing that isn't already publicly available. However, I'm still unable to reinstall my downloaded copy of Adobe 5.5 Design Premium and it seems that Adobe 'help' is a bit of a misnomer as there's no way to actually get help. As a 'staff' member, can you point me to anyone who can help me resolve this problem, or should I just stop wasting my time trying to get help from Adobe?

Here is my original post:

 

Had to do a format and Win7 x64 reinstall (Lenovo T410 Thinkpad). Several years back I bought and downloaded, from the Adobe site, Design Premium 5.5. When I tried to reinstall the suite, it gets about half way through and then directs me to "Please insert disk Adobe Design Premium 5.5 - to continue". There is no 'disk', never was. I'm at a complete loss re: how to get my Adobe programs reinstalled. Any help would be so appreciated.

Licensing for this product has stopped working & Components install failed

I have CS3 Web Premium and it suddenly stopped working the other day. Message came up when I opened programs... "Licensing for this product has stopped working: You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT administrator or adobe customer support for help."

Well I have been uninstalling and installing and now I can't install any of the main programs. It install Acrobat, but nothing else. Error message in installer "Components istall failed" (or similar).

This is a nightmare... I'm unemployed and trying to find work. I'm working on a portfolio of web/graphics work and now I can't finish it... I can use Notepad for coding this is a slow process and I now can't do any graphics work.

I have spent a fortune on CS3 Suite and it is now useless.

Surely Adobe have a fix for this problem... anyone worked this out yet?

FLEXnet Licensing Service

I would like to know the function of the FLEXnet Licensing Service service in a windows 7 laptop where adobe creative suite CS3, original product, and / or free download as adobe reader or flash reader are installed.  Going to the process associated to this service a iexplorer.exe *32 is highlighted. Sometimes flash reader does not work or crash inside applications in the web or pdf web site documents are not available to be open or they close suddenly.

Anyone know where to download Creative Suite 4 Design *Standard*?

 

It gets its own product page here:

But the "Try" links all point to Creative Suite 4 Design *Premium*. Not sure why that is.

 

I'm a paid/registered user of the former, but my serial number doesn't work in the latter, even just to unlock whatever features come with Standard.

CS4 'Licensing for this product has expired'

This problem relates to a new install. Taken just about the entire weekend to get this problem sorted and still no closer. I have the trial DVD and trying to get to grips with it for evaluation. It's loaded fine on my desktop, but my laptop...totally different story.

I get a message 'Licensing for this product has expired' and I can't run that program. However its only in some programs in CS4 not in all, as other run fine but after doing a reinstall to fix it, the problem just seems to moves to another program; so first time I got it on Illustrator and Dreamweaver and now after reinstall it changes so now its on Flash and Contribute, but all other programs work perfectly well (this has happened 5 or 6 times, Ive reinstalled that often!).

1. I run Vista Home Premium on a new powerful laptop that exceeds all requirements with plenty of spare disk space. Its so new (prob 6 weeks old)that there were just a few new programs on (Office '07 and couple other programs, no Adobe programs except Reader 8.0)

2. The laptop was partitioned by me c=vista d=docs p=program files, and its here on P that I've loaded CS4. I have this same set up on my work desktop which is identical in processor (intel core)and memory/RAM to the laptop and runs CS4 perfectly and was installed from the same DVD (trial version bought from Adobe for evaluation). Problem is need it on the laptop to complete the evaluation, being away from the office

3. I've never moved the installation, its just stayed on P

4. I've not restored

5. I've validated no hardware issues via diagnotics and bad sector checks with professional tools, all other programs work prefectly

6. I check Flexnet is working and started (set to manual)

7. Yes I have permission all run as adminstrator etc..,

8. I've tried running the CS4 programs from Program files/application - makes no difference

9. I've uninstalled (using control panel/uninstall and then the remove tool found on support at http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html) and reinstalled as well as uninstalled and reinstalled via desktop following support tutorial (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb403963) makes no difference other than moving the error to another program

10. Yes I made sure no other program could interfere during install closing all anti-virus and programs in start-up which might effect this

11. I did try using the adobe support advisor tool - gave no answers or log, and our software supplier said even Adobe reckon its a rubbish tool..

12. Finally I did run the Licensing Repair Tool - no effect (run several times, after reboot)

13. As the disk had just run on my desktop I have to presume the DVD is fine, but cleaned it anyway and it looks fine

I'm out of ideas...

Windows Clipboard won't paste in Photoshop CS3

The subject pretty much covers it. If I do a print screen and then do a paste into Photoshop CS3 it doesn't paste the image from the clipboard. I can paste it into Windows Paint, just fine, but if I try to copy from that and into Photoshop it also doesn't work. Anyone else having this problem? I do screen grabs all the time, so this could be serious.
