Bad PDF; could not read page structure.

I have created a letterhead in Illustrator and saved it as a PDF file. Now the client has approved the design and I am trying to export it to Word for their daily use as a template.

When I open Acrobat 8 Professional and try to do this, I get the error above. What could I be doing wrong?
