With every attempt to check for updates for Creative Suite 5, the Application Manager immediately responds with an error: "The update server is not responding. The server might be offline temporarily, or the internet or firewall setting may be incorrect. Please try again later." My last successful check for updates was on 3/27/2012.

I have not added any restrictions since 3/27. I do not block any outgoing communications within any of my firewalls. All other communications through all firewalls are functioning normally.

Is there a way to verify if the update server is really down?

Perhaps the server address has changed. It wouldn't be the first time a non-thinking person had this notion: "Here's what we'll do, change the update server's IP address and then roll out the new address in the next update."

Hello everyone.

I am running Windows 7, 64 bit. I have recently upgraded from CS5.5 Design Premium to CS6 Design and Web Premium.

I the process, I lost the association of file types (such as .psd) with their relevant programs, which I have now recified.

However, the filetype icons that are associated with each program, in most cases, don't seem to have assigned themselves to their respecitive icons. For example, .psd files now show as a white document with the blue Ps square icon in the centre, and the same for InDesign etc. Oddly, Illustrator has worked and has assigned it's icons correctly.

For example:

I can't find a method of editing specific file types icons - even then, I wouldn't know where to find the particular icon sets.

Any ideas?

Where can I find the file Photoshop .exe in CS6/Windows7 ?  It is not in the usual place.

I have a CS5 Production Premium license for Windows. I have, however got a mac now. What would an upgrade to CS6 for Mac cost me, and how do I get it?

I am trying to install Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium on a brand new Windows 7 machine (32-bit). It is a downloaded copy from Adobe's website.

When I start the install process, it takes me to the "Options" Screen and will not let me install Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign. All those options are grayed out.

At the bottom, the reason it gives is as follows:
"The minimum system requirements listed below needed to run adobe photoshop cs3 are required and are not met:
- Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
- Windows Vista"
It gives the same error for the other 2 programs as well.

I have tried the following troubleshooting steps already with no luck:
1. Run Setup.exe as Administrator
2. Run Setup.exe in compatibility mode (either as Windows XP SP2, or Windows Vista)
3. Logged-in to Administrator profile and tried installing from there
4. did the regsvr32 on both vbscript.dll and jscript.dll.
5. Tried the CS3 cleanup tool at multiple levels.
6. Made sure there are no other Adobe products installed
7. Called Adobe Tech support, they are no help. They said to re-install the OS, which doesn't make any sense since it's a clean install.

No AV installed yet, so that's not the issue either.

Any ideas?

   Due to security policies and the functionality of automatically deleting profiles on logout, we are required to put all Domain Users into the local Guests group.  Effectively this is all of our users.  In the past using Windows XP and Vista we have not experienced any problems with software by putting our users in the Guests group.  With the release of the CS5 Suite it appears a check is being made at startup to see if the user starting the software is a member of Guests and if they are it will refuse to start.

   Does anyone have any ideas on how to disable this check?  Both CS3 qand CS4 Suites worked just fine and we literally have hundreds of applications that are running with these settings.  The only softwar that is throwing and error is the Adobe CS5 Suite.

I am having trouble re-installing a copy of creative suite 2 on a Windows 7 machine. I have legally purchased the software and have the box with the serial number but can't use these due to the activation problems.  I am trying to install from the instructions which tell you to download the cs2 exe files from the adobe site - I am downloading the files first before running as this seems to be a problem for some people but each time only get as far as installing disk 1 file and can't get the install to carry on to the disk 2 files, you either get ok (which does nothing) or cancel which quits you out of the install.

Hi.  I purchased Creative Suite 6 design & web premium - student/teacher edition.  Got a new computer & it asked if default prog. for different extensions.  Now Dreamweaver opens on it's own with mostly numbers - .js files periodically.  What should I do?  I've already uninstalled it, ran cleaner tool from Adobe & installed it again.  Still have problem.  Help!

I have searched all day, having phoned 6 different numbers and researched everywhere to not get a definate answer to this question. We are in the UK, I do not want to spend money on software which she cannot legally use after her studies to produce work which she can sell commercially. Some forum answers are relevant for North America only or are a little out of date refering to Education Licenses. Please help!! One person said they embed a watermark to prevent commercial use but is this an education copy or a student edition?

I'm a paid/registered user of the former, but my serial number doesn't work in the latter, even just to unlock whatever features come with Standard.

We are planning to purchase around 25 computers for a computer lab for working with CS4 Production Premium at the high school level.  Mainly Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop.  Our budget is, unfortunately, a mere $550-$625 per machine (just the tower though, we have monitors).  I've already established that a 64-bit operating system makes a significant difference in the performance, even though Photoshop is the only 64-bit application, and I'm now hung up on whether or not it's worth the cost of a quad-core processor over a dual-core.

I'm discovering the different hardware needs for each application, so I'm trying to find an economic balance that will give me the best performance per buck.  It seems that Premiere benefits significantly from more cores (we're editing 1440x1080 AVCHD), and this article over at Tom's Hardware has convinced me that I don't want to compromise with a hyperthreaded dual-core for After Effects.

I'm also struggling with what part the graphics card plays in the mix.  Which applications lean on the graphics card, and will it make much difference as long as I meet the requirements (OpenGL 2.0, Shader Model 3.0, Direct3D 10, and 256 Mb Ram)?

I understand I will need to settle for less-than-awesome with my budget, but I'm already making sacrifices to get the number to $625.  I would like to make sure that those sacrifices will be worth it for a quad-core system.

When trying to install my downloaded CS6 D & W Premium I was told that certain parts installed ok and other parts did not.  This was the report I got and I have no idea how to work through these issues as I am new to Win7 64 bit.

I am tying to find a solution to this problem, and am unable to find a way to contact Adobe directly for customer assistance. When I click on the Customer Support link at the bottom, the page that loads says, "Error 'This serial number is not for a qualifying product...' when installing an upgrade or upsell."  I didn't install an upgrade version of CS5, and I didn't have it on more than one computer. My hard drive crashed at the end of 2013, and I had to replace it with a new one. I wasn't able to deactivate the product on the old hard drive, but it installed just fine on the new one. Now the updates will not work.

Does anyone know how to fix this or how to contact Adobe directly for help?  Thanks.

Right now I've ordered Windows 7 to make the 32-bit to 64-bit change. I currently have XP32. Will the CS3 suite I have install on the 64-bit Windows 7?

My plan is to fresh install W7, get everything running and upgrade to CS4 early next year. Not really worried about the licencing so much as the install. I'm hoping I won't have to go into XP emulation mode to use my Adobe programs.

Will I be able to do this? I couldn't find anything online about the subject and I just want to make sure so I'm not sent up the creek.

I've been using CS3 on my Windows 7 machine for a few months now but then my programs wouldn't open. After trying a few things without success, I decided to uninstall and then re-install it.

The disc runs and it shows that each of the programs is installed but at the bottom it says "CS3 premium didn't install." Whenever I try to open one of the programs, I get a message saying the license has expired.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, how did you resolve it? I've tried all of the suggestions in the knowledge base, but nothing has worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What's the difference between the student & normal editions of Adobe CS3 Design Premium? Is it just the price, or are there different/less functions in the student version?
